I'm on a roll. Finally having cleaned up re-organized my crafting area I have had time and desire to create more cards.
I bought the new Ornamental Cheer stamp set ,D1520, from Close to my Heart and was playing around with my embossing powders , (checking out which ones worked/looked best. THEY ALL DO) . lol . I had some varieties of golds -some straight out of the jar,- some a mix of different golds , to see how well they might mix.)
I made 4 ornaments in each colour -the golds plus blues, greens and reds -then I hand cut them out to shape-why didn't I use my Art Philosophy cartridge ???? because I stamped them first and I haven't learned to use the centre cut feature on my Cricut machine. So now they are cut and ready to go , which paper to use?? I found some Sonoma paper in my stash and discovered that the browns and purples and mossy greens (cocoa, smokey plum and olive) looked gorgeous with the gold embossed ornaments. Take a look and tell me what YOU think of the combos.(you can use the comments feature)
the olive doesnt look very green here but it was the smokey plum that I wanted to stand out.
On my to do list- learn to use my camera settings to create more accurate colour renditions.
It feels good to use up some more large scraps. Stay tuned for more festive cards.
I've been busy, oh so busy , in a tizzy, so busy am I ( did you sing along with me?)
I bought the Pear and Partridge WOTG and made not one but TWO sets of 15 cards. If they don't sell at the crafts shows I'm doing in November and early December I'll be well on my way to having enough cards to send to my family and friends for the holiday season.
The first set I used the Pear and Partridge papers, stamped images and embellishments that come in the kit. Of course I had to tweak them a bit cause that's what I do, lol
Just like the advert says in the Idea Book , you CAN make all 15 cards in less than 3 hours. that's 5 cards per hour or one card every 12 minutes, hot diggity. Then just for the heck of it I made more with retired papers but new and retired stamp sets. I had a pile of bulk Aspen papers that need to be used up so I now have a good selection of cards to sell or send.
first set of pix is the WOTG as it comes in the kit. I changed the
ribbon placement and sparkles to make each one slightly different. the
kit makes 5 each of three different designs.
I altered the stamping
layout in the third set to see which way is best. Light /dark, all the
same. etc. I like them all.
This second set of pix shows the same layouts with the Aspen papers
stamp set is Perfect Fit -Holidays B1412, ribbon ,some retired CTMH some from other mfrs.
stamp set here is Merry and Bright c1510 and a retired Christmas Scripts set C1207
this set used another retired set the season defined C1334
I hope these inspire you to not only try our new Card WOTG kits but to use up some of your old papers to make additional cards.
I recently re-inherited two chests of drawers my kids don't need and decided to use them in my crafting space. Have you heard the expression -"opening a can of worms"? well I've spent the past week trying to re-org my space and I hit a brick wall. I've spent the better part of this weekend trying to place my STUFF where I think it will best be used, I relocated my stamp sets (please dont ask how many i have it's too embarrassing to say.) and i am very pleased with how it is working but the PAPER -OMG the PAPER- plus I had to redo my groupings as CTMH has downsized and re-organized their colour palette. so now I have two sets of CS stacks , One for current and another for the older card-stock that I still have a plethora of and it matches the older patterned paper I am still using up. So I have nothing new to show as I've been swamped with this re-org process.
I thought Labour Day was supposed to be a holiday. ha.
I tried my hand at a 'new to me' technique for a swap with a group I belong to. While it can be a tad messy blowing re-inker mixed with kids bubble wand soap-stuff with a straw, it creates the most amazing results. I also needed a sympathy card (too many for my liking lately) and the soft subtle background suited my purpose. If I recall correctly I used Desert Sand and Crystal Blue re-inkers, on White Daisy CS. I used the Card Word Puzzle stamp set to create the white embossed flowers. I think it turned out well given as I was just playing around to see what I could do with the bubble patterned paper.
The yarn I used is a really old sassy strands from my stash. I've had them since I began with Close to my Heart but seldom used them then. Now I seem to find them irresistible. go figure. what's old is new again it seems
I took the plunge and have changed the name of my paper and jewellery crafting business. Papergems incorporates the two things I love to do best, make paper crafts and fabricate jewellery. The paper crafts I make are little gems of creativity and I use a lot of semi-precious gemstones in my jewellery designs. This name took me three years of to-ing and fro-ing of different concepts and identities and I think I finally got it right. phew , now on to better things , like making jewellery and paper crafts. Visit again to see what I've been up to.
